Design and Technology

Design and Technology calls for students to become autonomous and creative problem solvers, as individuals and as members of a team. They must look for needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing a range of ideas and manufacturing creative products from a range of materials and components. Students will make creative use of ICT, using a range of specialist software and high quality CAD/CAM packages.

Key Stage 3

At KS3 all students will experience all subject specialisms: Product Design (incorporating Electronics, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Systems & Control), Food Technology and Textiles Technology. In each of these areas, students will be involved in developing ideas, planning, manufacturing products and evaluating them.

Key Stage 5

At KS5 the Department offers students opportunities to follow AS/A2 level courses within D&T: Product Design and D&T: Food Technology.
