FAQ

To further improve communication with parents and carers, we have begun this ‘frequently asked questions’ section of the website where parents can instantly access useful, day-to-day information about the school and its systems. We hope that your query will be addressed here! If not, please contact the main school as indicated in the main ‘Contact Us’ section and we will respond as quickly as we can.

What sort of issues are dealt with by my child’s Form Tutor?
The Form Tutor is the most important person on a daily basis for each student. Items such as absence letters, holiday requests, friendship issues, general progress and wellbeing are dealt with by the Form Tutor.

Under what circumstances should I contact my child’s Head of Year?
The Head of Year coordinates the work of the tutors and is happy to meet with parents if matters cannot be dealt with through contact with the Form Tutor.

What if I want to contact someone on the Senior Leadership Team?

- Mrs Ferguson (Head of Sixth Form) for Years 12 and 13

In addition, the following senior members of staff will be happy to discuss any and all matters with parents:

- Mr Hamilton (Headteacher)

- Mrs Warwick (Deputy Headteacher)

- Ms Page (Assistant Headteacher - Student Well-being, Progress and Development)

- Mr Thomas (Assistant Headteacher - Technology, Data and Systems)

What could the Student Support Worker help me with?
Mrs Hammond is well known to many parents and prospective parents for the role that she plays in supporting the Head of Year 7 in ensuring that transition for our new students is as well supported and positive as possible. If you are a prospective parent, or unable to contact your child’s Form Tutor, then Mrs Hammond possesses a wealth of knowledge about the school and is likely to be able to help with your query. Mrs Hammond is contactable through the main school reception.

How could I contact the Headteacher directly?
If parents or carers wish to communicate directly with Mr Hamilton, the Headteacher, and it is most convenient to do so via e-mail, the head’s e-mail address (which is accessed on a daily basis) is: head.4054@bartholomew.oxon.sch.uk

How can I let the school know my views as a parent?
The school asks all parents and carers to complete a questionnaire each year, to inform us about your perceptions of the strengths and areas for development within the school community. The questionnaire is distributed on the website every November. The Senior Leadership Team and Governors endeavour to respond to the concerns raised by parents and to act on them, as well as to share and celebrate the many positive and appreciative responses which we receive from our parents.

Who should I contact about medical matters?
Our Receptionist / First Aider, Mrs Roy, is the first contact for any medical matters.

How can I contact the Bartholomew School Governors?
The Chair of Governors can be contacted through the school via the Clerk to the Governors, Mrs B Bedford (who can be contacted via the main school reception).
