Welcome from the Governors of Bartholomew School! We hope the website gives you a flavour of this lively and successful school where the well-being and self-confidence of its students are a tribute to the school and its pastoral support.
The Governors are privileged to share in the life of the school. As part of our responsibility for ensuring that Bartholomew is well managed financially, provides a safe, secure environment for its staff and pupils and promotes a desire in each individual to achieve his or her best, each governor is linked to a subject or area of school life. From the School Council to Maths and from Geography to Learning for Life we keep in close touch with the developments and challenges facing teachers and students. We make decisions about the curriculum, monitor how well students with special educational needs achieve and review exam results.
It is also important for us to know how parents feel about the school and we seek out parental views both informally and formally at parents’ evenings and through questionnaires. We greatly value the BSA's contribution to the school and are grateful for its readiness to work with us in identifying less obvious areas for praise or development.
The Governing Body consists of parent governors, teacher governors, community governors, LEA appointed governors and the Headteacher. The Full Governing Body meets six times a year, and each governor is also allocated to one of three committees which deal with issues related to Staff & Students, the Curriculum and Resources. These committees report on their discussions and decisions to the Full Governing Body meetings.
The Governors find it a great pleasure to be involved in such a purposeful, vibrant and thoughtful community. We are constantly impressed by the energy, commitment and positive attitude of the staff, both teaching and non-teaching. We are delighted by the self-confidence, friendliness and good manners of the students. We are most appreciative of the open relationship we have with the leadership of the school and we are proud to contribute to the life of Bartholomew School.
