Key Stage 2-3 Transition
The Schools Admissions Team at Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for coordinating admissions to Bartholomew School and, therefore, the school is not involved in the application process. All queries should be addressed to the Schools Admissions Team at County Hall.
Secondary admissions are coordinated across Oxfordshire and across LA boundaries. If you are resident in Oxfordshire you need to complete and return the application form (CAPF) which is available online. If you are not resident in Oxfordshire you will need to apply on your home authority’s application form. Details on how to fill out the form and what is required are also available online.

The Transition Process
At Bartholomew we pride ourselves on the quality of the care, guidance and support we provide our young people as they make the transition from their primary school to become part of our inclusive school community.
The transition process at Bartholomew is recognised as a leading example of how well primary and secondary schools can work in partnership to support students and families over both the short and long term for academic success and personal development.

Our transition process begins each year by offering parents/carers and students the opportunity to come and visit our school during our Open Evening, which this year was held on Thursday 23rd September 2021.
Key Dates for September 2022 admissions
Applications open: 3rd September 2021
Closing date for applications: 31st October 2021
Parents complete and return choices form to the Local Authority. This can be done online and you will receive confirmation that your request has been received via email.
Offer letters dispatched from Oxfordshire County Council: 1st March 2022
Acceptance letters are sent to parents/carers with a form to be signed and returned to the County Admissions Team or accepted online.
Once you have accepted your place
Primary Visits: During May/June 2022
The Head of Year 7, ALPS Manager and SENDCo will visit primary schools to begin the process of induction and getting to know your child.
Over the following months, members of our ALPS Team visit primary schools regularly to begin to form links with students who might benefit from additional support through the transition process. The ALPS Team work alongside our Head of Year 7 and Transition Lead in order to ensure the process of transition is as smooth as possible for each student and their family.
The Head of Year 7, the ALPS Manager and the SENDCo visit primary schools to meet with students to answer any further questions that they might have about the move to Bartholomew. Feedback from parents/carers tells us that these visits are a strength of our transition process and are very much appreciated as a means of allaying any concerns.
Welcome letter from Bartholomew School sent: June 2022
Parents/carers will receive an induction handbook and all necessary documentation to enrol their child at Bartholomew School for September 2022.
Several transition events take place during the year, details of which will be communicated to you by Mrs Bexon, Head of Year 7.
