Friends of Bartholomew School (FOBS)
The Friends of Bartholomew School is a small, self-governing voluntary group made up of parents, carers, staff, and members of the wider community. Being part of the Friends offers a great opportunity to enhance students’ experience of secondary school life. You can get involved as much or as little as you like—it's a chance to meet other parents, support the school, and hear more about what’s going on.
Bartholomew PTA is a Registered Charity (Charity no. 1056098) and is affiliated to the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations.
What we do
We run events and support the school throughout the year. Our aim is to fund raise while bringing the school community together and we work closely with the school to ensure the hard-earned funds are channelled to create the biggest impact for the students.
How it works
We aim to meet once or twice a term, usually on an evening in the school library, to discuss and plan events. This is where you’ll have a chance to put forward your own ideas, volunteer your time or just come along to hear what’s going on and meet a few fellow parents and carers.

Match Funding
Match Funding is a fantastic scheme whereby employers provide funding for organisations such as secondary schools. It is a very simple and easy means of extra funding. As an employee it doesn’t cost you anything, except maybe a little help at an event but could mean hundreds of pounds of extra money for our PTA, which directly benefits the children. In many cases it is as simple as approaching your HR department and finding out about their scheme (the name of the scheme may differ depending on the company).

News & Events
The school Parent Teacher Association group held its Annual General Meeting in April, where the newly elected committee announced a new name: Friends of Bartholomew School (FOBS). The change reflects the group’s hope of broadening membership beyond just parents and carers to include the wider community.
Mr Thomas attended, along with the new teacher liaison, Mr Wood, and Lucy Dickinson and Daryl Back from the Board of Governors. Attendees heard first-hand about the school’s priorities for the upcoming academic year and took part in a productive discussion about where FOBS can best focus its fundraising efforts.
It was agreed that next year’s fundraising will support improvements to the school’s outdoor spaces, making them more enjoyable and functional for students.
The committee will return next term with more news about how you can get involved and details on the launch of a new '500 Club', where you can be in with a chance of winning a cash prize each month!
